Artist spotlight · In memory
Chad Krystals—born Chad Robert Fedrow—was a songwriter, producer, visual artist, and independent hip-hop artist whose years at Hit Warehouse became an important part of the studio’s history.
A singular creative voice
Raised between Colorado, Arizona, and New Jersey, Chad drew deeply from the lyricism and production language of late-1980s and early-1990s New York hip-hop. His catalog included Ill Ideas (2007), Superconscious (2009), and Mind Games (2011). After returning to Arizona, he continued developing new music at Hit Warehouse with engineer Nick Gasmena, including material associated with the planned project Rebel Rhetoric.
Chad died in January 2025. His death was untimely, and he is missed immensely. It was an honor and a privilege for Nick to spend so much time with him in the studio and to be entrusted with helping him curate his music over many years. This page is preserved as a tribute to Chad, the work he made, and the friendship behind it.
“Bump This”
Written and produced by Chad Krystals (Fedrow), “Bump This” was engineered and recorded by Nick Gasmena at Hit Warehouse in Mesa, Arizona. It remains a vivid document of the sound Chad pursued and the sessions the two shared.
The final collaboration: “Snakes”
“Snakes (original version)” was the final project Chad and Nick worked on together. Chad later posted the finished work to his YouTube channel in September 2023. The song was written and produced by Chad, who also created the animation under the name KWIK 1.
Remembering Chad Krystals
Chad’s recordings preserve more than a discography. They carry his ideas, humor, visual imagination, and uncompromising creative point of view. Hit Warehouse is grateful to have helped bring part of that body of work into the world.
