ESK8CON 2025

ESK8CON 2025

ESK8CON 2025 — Electric Skateboard & EUC World Championship, Las Vegas

ESK8CON 2025 — the world’s largest electric skateboard convention — took place March 27–29, 2025 at the World Market Center Event Lot in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. What started as a niche gathering for electric skateboard (esk8) builders and riders has grown into a full-blown festival of personal electric vehicle (PEV) culture: a packed expo floor of vendors and board builders, product demos, a community group ride through the Las Vegas streets, and at the center of it all, the Multi-Class Esk8 World Championship Race.

Three Days of ESK8 & EUC Racing

Riders lined up across five divisions — Esk8, Esk8 Masters (50+), Esk8 Women, EUC, and Open — to battle a tight, barrier-lined course for three straight days: Friday qualifying, Saturday elimination heats, and Sunday’s championship finals under the checkered flag. This gallery documents all three days, shot trackside among the hay bales, hairpins, and start/finish gantry.

Electrify Expo Phoenix 2025

Electrify Expo Phoenix 2025

Electrify Expo Phoenix 2025 — ESK8 & EUC Racing at State Farm Stadium

On April 12–13, 2025, Electrify Expo — North America’s largest electric vehicle festival — rolled into State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, bringing over a million square feet of EVs, e-bikes, e-motorcycles, and personal electric vehicles (PEVs) to the Valley. At the center of the action: the Electrify Race League, the festival’s professionally produced electric skateboard (esk8) and electric unicycle (EUC) race series, running dedicated Pro and Open class competitions with riders racing for national series points and cash purses.

ESK8 & EUC Pro Class Racing, Trackside

This gallery documents Electrify Race League competition at Electrify Expo Phoenix — electric skateboard racing and electric unicycle racing side by side on the same closed course, in front of one of the biggest crowds either sport sees all year. Expect tight cornering, full-send straights, and the kind of wheel-to-wheel PEV racing that’s turning esk8 and EUC competition into one of the fastest-growing motorsports in the electric vehicle space.

Why Electrify Expo Matters for PEV Racing

Electrify Expo has become a major stage for the personal electric vehicle community — not just a place to demo e-bikes and e-scooters, but a legitimate competitive platform for esk8 and EUC athletes chasing Electrify Race League national series points across stops in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Dallas. Photographing this event means capturing PEV racing at the exact moment it’s breaking into the mainstream EV festival circuit.

Intro 2 Speed - Feb 11, 2024

Intro 2 Speed - Feb 11, 2024

Intro2Speed Arizona — PEV Rider Training, Phoenix

Photos from an Intro2Speed — Arizona Chapter practice session in Phoenix, Arizona on February 11, 2024. Intro2Speed is a community-run program with local chapters across the country — from its Los Angeles/Torrance roots to Chicago, Portland, Orange County, the Inland Empire, and Arizona — built around one goal: teaching riders of electric unicycles (EUC), electric skateboards (esk8), and other personal electric vehicles (PEVs) how to ride safely, in a group and solo, on a controlled makeshift track.

From Beginner to Advanced PEV Riding

Sessions welcome everyone from brand-new riders learning the basics to experienced riders pushing their cornering and control to the next level — the foundation that safe, confident PEV group rides and race-day performance are built on.

Phoenix PEV Group Ride — South Mountain Park and Preserve

Closing out 2023 the right way: our friend Joe #1 pulled together one last group ride of the year at South Mountain Park and Preserve — one of the largest municipal parks in the country, and the best sunset ride Phoenix has to offer. If you’ve never climbed a personal electric vehicle (PEV) route with the entire skyline unfolding below you, you’re missing out.

Electric Unicycles, Esk8, Onewheels & E-Bikes in Phoenix

2023 was the year our crew properly explored Phoenix on electric unicycles, scooters, Onewheels, esk8 boards, and e-bikes — and this city’s network of riding paths made it almost too easy. These are some of my favorite people on two (or one) wheels, riding friends I’ve come to call family. Happy holidays, and here’s to more miles in 2024.

Butterfly Wonderland - Scottsdale, Arizona

Butterfly Wonderland - Scottsdale, Arizona

Butterfly Wonderland, Scottsdale, Arizona — Macro Butterfly Photography

Butterfly Wonderland, Scottsdale, Arizona — Christmas week, in the middle of a holiday visit from my mom and a golden afternoon with my girlfriend Liv, we ducked into one of the largest glass-domed butterfly conservatories in the country. Thousands of free-flying butterflies moving through humid, plant-packed air is genuinely disorienting in the best way — and an absolute nightmare to photograph. These things never sit still.

Shooting Macro Wildlife with the Sony FX3

This was also the first real outing for my Sony FX3, paired with the 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II (and a 2x teleconverter for the shots that needed serious reach). Only 12 megapixels on paper, but Sony’s color science in the Alpha line does something you can’t fake — and the GM II’s autofocus tracked wings mid-flap better than I expected. The bokeh rendered by that lens against the conservatory’s flowers and succulents turned every background into a wash of color. Not a bad way to spend a holiday.

Nick Gasmena — Phoenix-Based PEV, Racing & Commercial Photographer

I’m Nick Gasmena — photographer, videographer, and founder of Hit Warehouse, the Mesa, Arizona recording studio and media production house I started back in 2008. Visual storytelling isn’t a side hobby I picked up recently; I’ve spent years on film and TV crews in sound, camera, and electrical departments on projects like Forever Home (2023), Vintage Arizona: The Heart of Winemaking (2024), and Human Threads (2016). Cameras and production sets have basically always been part of how I make a living.

From the Studio to the Startline

Somewhere along the way, that production background collided with the personal electric vehicle (PEV) world. I spent 2022–2025 as a founding team member and Director of Operations for Amped Electric Games and The Electric Angels, running live multicamera broadcasts for electric skateboard (esk8) and electric unicycle (EUC) racing. From 2023 into 2026, I’ve also served as Director of Brand & Marketing at REV Rides, connecting product launches, education, content, SEO, and ecommerce for the PEV industry. Shooting ESK8CON, Electrify Expo, and Intro2Speed sessions as @BIGboiFASTboi is where all of that comes together — racing, production, and a genuine reason to be trackside with a camera.

What’s Next: Racing, Sports & Commercial Work

These days I’m leaning harder into racing and sports photography — PEV racing first, but motorsport and action photography broadly — alongside more commercial photo and video work: brand content, product shoots, and portrait/model work for clients who need a crew that already knows how to run cameras, sound, and a production set. FAA Part 107-certified for aerial/drone capture since 2016, and shooting on a Sony FX3 / G-Master lens kit, I’m building out a portfolio that spans the startline, the studio, and everything in between. If that’s the kind of work you need shot, let’s talk.
